LOATHING LABOR COUNCILLORS STILL SPENDING
Burwood Council still plans to go ahead with the civic centre after being identified by analysts 'Fiscal Star' as the worst of worst preforming councils in NSW. The report states that 35 councils are so short of cash they will need to increase rates and charges by 80 to 200 per cent in the next 10 years to survive. Burwood Council is one of the worst.
It is clear Labor can't manage our councils, when two of the neighbouring Labor controlled council are listed as the worst, it is not a statical error it shows causation – Labor simply can't manage money. Labor Mayor John Faker has not investigated how the nearby Strathfield Council has no qualms to build a new community centre and library without the need of an $8 million loan as the Labor Burwood council requires.[1] An $8 million loan split evenly between Burwood's 12,000 residents means an increase in rates of approximately $670 per ratepayers. This can only verify the report's claim that these affected councils will have to increase rates between 80 – 200%.
"Mayor Faker and his Labor led council has been spending our money on advertising themselves presuming it is the Labor Party's account. His mismanagement goes further by selling off council assets and borrowing money for a white elephant project." John Sidoti said.
Residents should be alarmed and extremely concerned because we may have no council or be forced to amalgamate due to the gross incompetence of the Labor Mayor and his team.
The present Mayor has led this council into financial ruin for the last eight years in office and the community is now realising his neglect and mismanagement.
"Is this council surviving because of developer contributions?" questions John Sidoti.
"Mr Faker, we have heard the same rhetoric for eight years with your incessant claims that it will be fixed soon and 'We'll budget better' - why should we give you another chance?"
