Burwood Council rorts the public purse

source: Review_Of_Parking_Enforcement_report

A Department of Local Government Review of Parking Enforcement in NSW, found that Burwood Council has increased its revenue from parking fines sevenfold, and the number of fines issued fivefold, since 2002/03.

Despite modest increases in the residential population, major public transport connection point (Burwood station/bus depot) and a high volume commercial/retail/medical practice area, Burwood Council continues to raise revenue at the expense of Burwood residents, business operators, service providers and patrons. From 2002 to 2007 Burwood Council have have increased the number of full time parking officers by 200% resulting in:

* 600% increase in parking fine revenue; and
* 458% increase in parking fines issued.

Its time to put an end to practices that cripple our community. On September 13 show Burwood Council that enough is enough.
