STEPHANIE KOKKOLIS

A Burwood resident for over 30 years, Stephanie Kokkolis is passionate about putting the interests of the local community first. The youngest of three sisters, Stephanie appreciates the importance of family, work and community values.

“As descendants of Greek migrants, our parents, taught us the importance of maintaining a solid sense of family and community values, good work ethics and the determination, dedication and the will to succeed in what you believe in.”

Committed to making a difference locally and globally, Stephanie has volunteered for Issues Deliberation Australia, a non-profit public policy think tank involved in research, public consultation, education and public debate on topical social and public policy issues impacting Australia and the world.

A small business owner and manager of a family retail optical store for 5 years, Stephanie understands issues affecting small businesses, including the impact of inadequate car parking on the survival, sustainability and growth of local businesses.

”Burwood is the retail hub and Central Business District of the Inner West and we need to ensure business growth and sustainability. Adequate car parking spaces (including disabled car parking) are urgently required to improve accessibility for residents, customers, employees and business owners.”

The State Labor Government has promised improvements to Burwood Railway Station regarding disabled access, yet failed to deliver on their promise. As a Councilor, Stephanie will work hard on behalf of all residents towards easier access to the area for residents, especially the elderly and disabled.

“We need to protect the safety of local residents and motorists by ensuring that our footpaths and roads are repaired quickly, efficiently and to acceptable safety standards.”

As a long time resident of Burwood, Stephanie is proud of the local area and its environment. She will work towards more frequent street cleaning and rubbish removal, a proponent of harsher fines for people caught littering the environment.

Stephanie is employed in the Financial Planning industry. In her current role, she enforces Financial Advisers to be compliant with Federal and State laws and regulations. A qualified Financial Adviser, and former small business owner, Stephanie knows the importance of sound financial planning and management.

Stephanie's interests include travelling, movies, swimming, and walking her dog.
